GMTK Game Jam 2022

This project was done for the Game Maker's Toolkit 48-hour game jam.

I contributed to the game design ideation, and created the user interface mockups and interactive prototype. The logo concept and 2D background artwork were provided by the team's artist.

Wireframes and Ideation

The jam's theme was "Roll of the Dice." Our team settled on the following game idea: a top-down action dungeon-crawler where the player's abilities are randomized in each room.


I created early wireframes to solidify the idea. The player enters a room, and has their two abilities (one for movement, one for offense) take center screen. They roll like a slot machine before being stopped by the player.


Other UI elements included a health bar, and the current abilities displayed with their respective controls. There was originally also a currency counter—enemies would drop poker chips that could be spent at a shop between rooms.
